Our Saturday was dedicated for Hongdae or Hongik University! We were supposed to meet our friend, Angelyn, at Trickeye Museum. We found out about this when we were looking for places to go to at Hongdae. Apparently, it's also a tourist spot. The entrance fee is at 15,000won but we found a coupon online. We only paid for 12,000won for ours. (Print the coupon
here. It ends December 2014)
How to get there: Hongik University Station (Line 2) Exit 9
It would be nice if you could get a map (yes, I like maps haha) at the Tourist Information Center. The info centers are your friends! Kidding, hahaha but a map helps when you go around a place. They have specific maps for specific places like the ones in Insa-dong and Bukchon Hanok Village. And they actually helped me when I wanted to exchange money, I didn't realize I would run out. We went there Saturday so banks are all closed. And it's a hassle if we would go to Myeongdong just to exchange money and I searched online, they said there weren't any in Hongdae but I still checked with the info center and there's actually only one foreign exchange there which is a guesthouse and a long way from Hongdae Street. It's actually on the other side but I was desperate so, yeah, there you go. Hahaha
Some people were laughing at us! Hahaha we were doing weird poses all throughout our stay there!
Yes, I'm an angel. O:)
I really fell down from this! Haha
Hahaha good thing I was in red! Hahaha
My fave painting by van Gogh!!! The Starry Night!
We had crazy expensive lunch at bbq and it's around Hapjeong! (which is owned by infinite's Sungyeol's family, I'm not a fan of infinite but my friends are. I just know Myungsoo and Sungkyu because of Running Man and I liked them there haha)
How to get there: Hapjeong Station (Line 2) Exit 3, right after you exit the station,
turn around then just walk straight (We actually walked there because my friend already knows how to get there from Hongdae so detailed directions
here)
I love their Sweet Potato Pizza!!
There's no specific itinerary so we just go and go and go! Hahaha
We asked for directions at the info center going to Picasso Street but they told us that we were far from there and told us to go here instead since it's almost like Picasso street with the wall arts and everything
Huhuhu there are so many talented people there! Why can't I be like them! Haha
There's the Free Market at Hongik Children's Park (just in front of Hongik University) from 1:00-6:00PM every Saturdays (it's also mainly why we wanted to go to Hongdae on a Saturday) The students have booths were they sell handmade stuff! They even make ones right in front of you so you're pretty sure that they're handmade. They customize them for you too but we went there around 5:00PM already and some booths aren't making anything anymore.
I wanted to buy everything!!! The accessories are all so cute (especially the little ceramic ones). And the sneakers (handpainted). And the bags. Most of them are expensive though... but I guess they're cheap if you count the effort they put into it!
We couldn't shop there so we went shopping at a huge Artbox shop nearby instead. hahaha Artbox sells a bunch of cute stuff! I bought some earrings (2,000won each), a mini vacuum cleaner (for laptops) and some cute stuff for school. Urgh, too much cute stuff!! (Yes, I keep saying cute and stuff hahaha)
We didn't have anything to do anymore after the Free Market so we visited the Hello Kitty Cafe!
How to get there: Hongik University Station (Line 2) Exit 9 (that's the green dot there, you'll spot the cafe immediately once you reach the corner)
Not really a fan of Hello Kitty, but the cafe is cute!!
I ordered the regular cheesecake, cafe mocha and tiramisu! I didn't like the cheesecake that much (it's crumbly) but I liked the tiramisu very much! I did like the cafe mocha but I thought it was a little too sweet.
We had dinner at Kyochon which is just at the 1st floor of our apartment building. Try the honey chicken wings!
After dinner, we went to noraebang since it's Pritzy and Klariz's last night with us (they have school on Monday)!
There's a noraebang near our apartment and there's really a funny side story before we arrived there. Hahaha since my friends, Pritzy and Klariz, can read some Korean words, they told us that there's a noraebang in one particular building and it's on the basement floor. So we went down and we were surprised to find a not-so noraebang atmosphere. Hahahaha we thought it was just an expensive kind of noraebang. we were only dressed casually, tshirts, shorts and slippers. We asked the receptionist if they have available rooms, we didn't find it weird since we could hear music inside, then they asked us what our ages were, so we told them (we're of legal age already :p) and they still looked confused. Hahaha so we asked them if it's noraebang, then turns out we just went inside a club! Hahaha a club! And it's so embarrassing because of how we were dressed, like we're ready to go to sleep hahahaha the noraebang turns out to be in the other building, also on the basement floor.
So, yes to our 5th day! Hahaha fun and funny way to end the day!
