We always go to Antipolo Church to attend the mass every May and this year is no different from the past years.
I attended the mass with my family together with my grandparents. It's like a usual mass but since my dad, my brothers and I decided to eat breakfast at a nearby Mcdonald's, we were late for the mass and we ended up separated from my grandparents and my mom.
Since I'm so vain, while waiting before the mass and after the mass, I kind of took advantage of my dad's DSLR and had a fun photoshoot. Hihi
And I just want to add that...
The church's surroundings is really clean and pleasant to the eyes. <3
Well, I guess it's normal for churches but there's something there that I find different and charming. :)
(Go visit the church so you'll see what I mean!)
After that, we bought lots of cashew nuts and Suman at the stores right down the church.
Antipolo is actually quite famous for their Mangoes, Suman and Cashew and they even have a festival for it. :)
(And while you're visiting the church, try these too!)
We then left Antipolo and decided to go have lunch at Balaw-Balaw Restaurant in Angono, Rizal.
The restaurant isn't fancy. It's simple and unique in its own way. By just looking at it, you could almost immediately say that it's very Filipino.
It's not only a restaurant but it's also an Art Gallery wherein works of local artists are displayed.
Actually, when I stepped into the gallery, I honestly felt chills down my spine.
The gallery isn't scary looking but the lights were dim that time and it sends a frightening feel to it.
I know, I'm such a scaredy-cat. Hihi
When ordering our food, I actually expected them to have an odd selection of food. Really. Since the place is odd enough, why not the food too?
They have exotic foods like deer, wild boar, crickets, frogs, etc.
My mom went for the wild boar and the frogs.
(Nope, I didn't try to eat one so I don't know if it's good or not. Hihi)
When I browsed through the menu, I saw fried rose petals and I wanted to try one but unfortunately, it wasn't available. :(
And one beverage caught my attention! It was called Gayuma. I was astonished at the name and I couldn't stop laughing, I don't know why. Haha. I think it's coconut meat mixed with...I can't remember. Sorry. Hihi, but it really is interesting.

| This is the wild boar |
 |
| Frog |
 |
| Best Sago't Gulaman I ever tasted and I'm not exaggerating. It really is good! |
 |
| We settled for the group platter and it's huge! |
 |
| Told you it was huge. :P |
After the meal, I can't resist not having a photoshoot...again. Hihi
The wall behind me is full of newspaper clippings.
My mom said that it's one of the tourists spots around Rizal and I don't think I can disagree with her.
Just by the look of it, the restaurant should really be considered one of the places to dine in when you go the Philippines. :)
Oh, and I forgot to mention...
Once you step inside the place, you'll see tons of...
 |
| ...masks... |
 |
| ...full of signatures! |
After eating, we asked the waiters if we could sign masks like those too. And they said that we should buy one. So we did, one mask costs 500php.
 |
| We signed our names. |
 |
| Hihi, visit Lety's Buko Pie when you go to Los Banos, Laguna. :) |
Of course I can't pass a chance of a photoshoot! :D
Since we're not really going to use it or display it around our house, we decided to do what the other customers did. We decided to hang it!
 |
| Yeah, I was the one who get to hang the mask :P |
So when you visit this restaurant, go look for our mask, okay? Hihi
Anyway, I really recommend the restaurant.
The food is great and you get a chance to see works of our local artists while you're at it.
So when you happen to pass by Angono, Rizal, and you're really really hungry, look for this restaurant and boom! Have one of the best experiences of your life. :)
Oh, and so that it would be easier to find this place...
Look for this beautiful (and huge) statue across the street! :D
P.S.: Photos of me were taken by my brother, Mickey. Other pictures were taken by me. :D
